As old-fashioned as it might sound, conventional dating is still what the modern-day people desperately needs.  It is a romance chaperoned by wisdom, and directed by God’s Word. According to  Joshua Harris, the author of  Boy Meets Girl, “It’s dating with a purpose. It’s a way of approaching relationships that can help us live out the truths of God’s Word as we pursue our heart’s desire. It’s a story of boy meets girl, where – whether you choose to marry or not – you can get to know each other in the confidence  that you have only God’s very best ahead for each of you.” 1  Online dating is more on the fantasy side, not governed by our emotion and perceptions in reality.  Proverbs 19:11 says, “A man’s wisdom gives him patience.” Biggest mistakes in romantic relationships were the result of impatience, trying to hurry things out, not taking things one step at a time. The absence of right pace and right time, clear purpose and clear head is romance at its worst.

“Falling in love was God’s idea.   He was the one who made us capable of experiencing romantic feeling.  He was the one who gave us the ability to appreciate beauty and experience attraction.  And He was the one who invented marriage so that the blazing fire of romantic love could become something even more beautiful – a pulsing, red-hot ember of covenant love in marriage.”2Someday, you will have your own story to tell.  It is a love story that will bring tears of joy or tears of remorse?  Will it remind you of the long and winding road of conventional dating you have experienced, though the hard way yet guided by God’s words and wisdom? Or the easy, convenient, and short cut way of online dating?    Will it be purity, faith, and selfless love; or compromise, impatient, and selfish love? The choice lies in your hand. It is for you to decide. A virtue guided by patience and wisdom.

Wouldn’t it be nice to tell a love story  that you will surely be proud of ?Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;  bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
